Frequently Asked Questions
What makes your agency different?
We specialize in placing career professionals who have chosen their fields as their vocation, not temporary jobs. We believe that exceptional household staffing requires fair compensation, legal employment practices, and mutual respect between families and the professionals who support them. Our clients understand that investing in qualified staff is investing in their family's wellbeing, their time, and their peace of mind.
What is the typical salary range for nannies placed by your agency?
Our nannies earn a minimum of $27 per hour, with rates scaling based on experience, credentials, additional responsibilities, and number of children. Highly experienced nannies with specialized skills (newborn care, special needs, multiple languages) command higher rates. This compensation reflects the professional nature of the role and the significant responsibility involved in caring for your most precious assets—your children.
Do I pay the nanny as an employee or contractor?
All our placements are W-2 employees, as required by IRS law. Household employees cannot legally be classified as 1099 contractors. We can connect you with household payroll services that handle taxes, workers' compensation, and compliance—making the process straightforward for you. Proper employment protects both you and your nanny from legal and tax consequences.
What benefits do you suggest offering?
In addition to hourly wages, families typically provide:
Guaranteed hours (usually 40-50 hours per week, paid even if not needed)
Paid time off (2-3 weeks vacation, sick days, major holidays)
Health insurance stipend or benefits contribution
Annual raises to reflect cost of living and increased experience with your family
Mileage reimbursement if nanny uses personal vehicle for work
These are industry standards for professional nanny positions.
How do I ensure a good match?
Our thorough matching process is designed to get it right the first time, and we provide ongoing support throughout the placement to ensure long-term success. We also offer a guarantee period for added peace of mind—though with our careful vetting and placement process, our matches thrive from the start.
How long will my search take?
Most placements are completed within 4-8 weeks. With prompt communication, we can often move faster. We recommend starting your search at least 4 weeks before you need someone to begin, though we understand urgent situations arise and will do our best to accommodate your timeline.
What other household duties do nannies typically perform?
In addition to childcare, nannies are happy to help with light housekeeping, running errands, basic meal preparation, and managing children's laundry.
When the role focuses on errands, cooking, household management, and/or laundry, we help you create a "Nanny/Household Manager" position with a job description and compensation that reflects the full scope. We'll work with you to define exactly what you need so we can find the perfect match.
